Kids might not have as much experience as we do, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have any smarts. One of the strongest qualities anyone can possess is the ability to defend themselves. When this dad asked his toddler son about some toilet paper in disarray, the way he reacted was beyond cute.
Dad wasn’t being angry or accusatory when he asked his son about the ripped up toilet paper that was trailing out of the bathroom and into the living room. He just asked about what happened. Jumping quickly on the defensive, the son refused to take the blame. Even when pressed about the incident, he refused to incriminate himself.
Should he ever find himself in court (hopefully as a lawyer), this is some great early training. His defense might mostly be babbling and pointing his finger, but he has to start somewhere, right? He holds himself together very wellWe must also commend his dad for being so patient. He showed that even when kids do wrong, they don’t need to be shamed or yelled at. They can learn from their mistakes by being spoken to in a mature manner.
As this child grows up, we can only hope that he’ll learn from his father’s example and work to solve problems by asking questions and being compassionate.
