Brenda Lee was only 13-years-old when she first recorded the popular Christmas song, “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.” Although the song has been covered numerous times by musical artists across many genres, none can match the charm of the original song by Lee.
However, one little named Avery came close in 2010 when she performed the song at the Cactus Family Christmas Celebration. Avery was only eight years old when she took to the stage to belt out the iconic song.
The date was October 19, 1958, when Lee stepped into the recording studio to sing what would eventually become the 4th most digitally downloaded Christmas tune of all time. Although the song is now a favorite of many generations of people, it was not immediately a big hit for Lee.
After not garnering much attention after the first release of the song, Lee recorded a different version the following year. While the song fared a little better the second time around, Lee was still not satisfied with the finished product.
So in 1960, Lee tried once again, hoping that the third time would truly be the charm. She was right and the song jumped to the top of the charts, earning its place as a Christmas classic.
Decades later, 8-year-old Avery gave the Christmas song her own flare. She was dressed in an adorable fringe dress as she pranced around the stage having the best time. Her joy is truly contagious as you watch her do her thing.
